Important Information for Tenants & Landlords
The Belleville Rent Leveling Ordinance applies only to multi-dwelling properties with four (4) or more rental units. It does not apply to single-family homes, two-family homes, or three-family homes.
Under the Ordinance, landlords may not raise rent by more than 5% annually.
The Rent Leveling Board only addresses rent increase disputes that exceed this 5% cap.

How to File a Rent Increase Complaint:
To file a complaint with the Rent Leveling Board:

- Email the completed form to Ngalioto@bellevillenj.org
