April 2025 - Officer Christopher Bunay

Congratulations to Officer Christopher Bunay on being named Officer of the Month!

Officer Bunay continues to lead by example through his outstanding police work and unwavering dedication to the Belleville community. In the month of April, while on uniformed patrol, he conducted a proactive investigation that led to the arrest of two individuals for drug possession, distribution, and outstanding warrants in addition to the seizure of over $3,000 in suspected drug proceeds.
 
He also leads the department in our Community Policing Initiative (Park, Walk, and Talks), building strong connections with residents and the community. Officer Bunay remains a vital part of our Emergency Response Team and often participates in the Police Unity Tour, and Torch Run.

March 2025 - Detective Anthony Tejada

Congratulations to Detective Anthony Tejada for being named Officer of the Month for March 2025! 

Detective Tejada is being recognized for his outstanding work in solving a complex vehicle theft case that led to the arrest of a suspect connected to multiple motor vehicle thefts in Belleville and the surrounding towns. His dedication, persistence, and quick action not only resulted in a successful apprehension but also helped bring closure to several ongoing investigations in the area. February 2025 - Officer Ace Estrada

The Belleville Police Department is proud to recognize Officer Ace Estrada as February’s Officer of the Month for his outstanding dedication and professionalism. Officer Estrada demonstrated exceptional problem-solving skills and de-escalation tactics during a critical incident, ensuring the safety of a victim and children present while preventing further escalation. His thorough investigation, empathy, and professional approach not only minimized trauma for those involved but also fostered cooperation from the actor and their family, ultimately preventing the need for additional resources and potential criminal charges. As a valued member of the Emergency Response Team, Officer Estrada consistently displays the highest standards of law enforcement, making a significant impact on both the department and the community he serves.

January 2025 - Officer Nicole Skelly

The Belleville Police Department is proud to recognize Officer Nicole Skelly as its first-ever Officer of the Month. During the course of an incident that occurred in January 2025, Officer Skelly displayed exceptional compassion and outstanding problem-solving skills, creating a positive bond with a young child during a very emotional time. She remained with the child, providing comfort and reassurance until the child could be safely reunited with her mother.

Officer Skelly’s professionalism, empathy, and unwavering commitment to the community were evident throughout this encounter, making her truly deserving of this honor. Beyond this incident, Officer Skelly consistently demonstrates the qualities that define an outstanding officer—dedication, integrity, and a strong connection to the people she serves. Her work ethic, commitment to public safety, and ability to handle difficult situations with poise make her a perfect choice for the department’s first ever, Officer of the Month!
