The purpose of this site is to allow Belleville residents, customers or any victim of crime that occurred within the Township limits, to file certain police reports online. After completing the necessary information, you will be able to print the report for your records.

If the incident you wish to report is an emergency, a crime in progress, or involves any type of injury please do not submit the report online and dial 9-1-1. The loss or theft of prescription medication, narcotic or otherwise CANNOT be reported online. For any incident that requires a police officer to respond dial the police non-emergency number 973-450-3333.

Before you proceed, you should be aware that it is a crime to make a false police report and all instances of false reports will be prosecuted. This online reporting system is only to be used to report a limited set of criminal incidents with very specific criteria, listed below.

Definition:
Obtaining someone else’s personal identifying information and using it to obtain credit, goods or services.

Examples:
While you were in Township of Belleville, someone has stolen your information like a credit card number or social security and uses that information without your authorization. A City resident may report any identity theft here, no matter where the theft occurred.

Definition:
Violation of a legal court document or parental agreement for parenting time.

Examples:
Child is not dropped off on an agreed date and time based upon a court order or Child is not turned over for specific holiday/weekend/weekday agreed upon parenting time.

Definition:
Theft of a bicycle of any value

Examples:
Bicycle stolen from lawn, outside of a store or other area that was not separately secured.

Definition:
Your property is taken without your permission and the property is under $200.00 in value.

Examples:
Property known to be stolen and missing may be recovered property and is not a theft.

Definition:
A person who engages in alarming conduct or repeatedly committing acts with the purpose of causing alarm or seriously annoying another person.

Examples:
Harassing phone calls, personal threats, continuous harassment that affects one’s way of life. (Not involving domestic violence related issues, threats with a weapon or bomb threats.)

Definition:
The act of changing, modifying or defacing public or private property.

Examples:
Graffiti, knocking over mailbox, throwing rock through a window, vandalism, etc.

Definition:
When property is missing or lost within/from the Township of Belleville.

Examples:
Property that is missing, i.e.. Leaving unidentifiable item in a restaurant or missing from home like Passports, Driver's Licenses, Wallets.

Definition:
For submitting additional information for an incident.

Definition:
Fraud is using deception to gain a financial or personal gain. Embezzlement is stealing or misappropriating money from another. Bad Checks is passing a check that one knows will not be honored due to lack of funds or forged signature.

Examples:
Examples include using false information to receive an item and may occur on e-commerce or other online websites or forging signatures, changing amounts or knowingly issue a check that the account holder knows does not have enough money to cover the amount.

Definition:
Using another person’s credit card without their authorization.

Examples:
Taking another person’s credit card or using their credit card to make purchases that they are not authorized to do. May occur on on-line websites.

Definition:
The act of knowingly taking goods from an establishment in which they are displayed for sale, without paying for them.

Examples:
Concealing a store item on one’s person, in pockets, under clothes, or in a bag, and leaving the store without paying.

Definition:
Burglary is the unlawful entry into a building, structure or vessel, including a motor vehicle. Theft is the unlawful taking of the tangible property of another.

Examples:
When someone leaves their car unlocked and then has their wallet, coins or personal items stolen from the vehicle.

Definition:
This is illegally depositing debris on private or township property or in a private dumpster without permission.

Examples:
A landscaper dumps grass clippings in a town park or on someone’s private property.

Definition:
This is accidental damage to private property, not criminal mischief which is intentional.

Examples:
Kids playing ball in their yard and accidentally break a neighbor's window with a baseball.
