Mayor Frank Velez III

Mayor Frank Vélez is a lifelong resident of Belleville, New Jersey. Having grown up in the Cherry Blossom Capital of America, Frank understands what it takes to make Belleville the best place to raise a family, own a business, and enjoy a high quality of life.

Prior to his election as Mayor, Frank served as both a Councilman and a member of the Belleville Board of Education.

As a Board of Education Trustee, Frank advocated for students, families, educators, and the special needs community while maintaining an independent and thoughtful approach to public service.

As a Councilman, Frank worked to strengthen recreational opportunities for children, families, and seniors, support local businesses, invest in community improvements, and deliver results for Belleville residents while maintaining fiscal responsibility.

In addition to his elected service, Frank worked at the federal level for the late Congressman Bill Pascrell, Jr. There, he assisted constituents throughout Northern New Jersey, helping connect residents with federal resources and working alongside public officials, community organizations, and government agencies across New Jersey’s Ninth Congressional District.

Today, Mayor Vélez remains an active, accessible, and community-focused leader, committed to serving residents of all backgrounds and perspectives.

Mayor Vélez believes that by working together, Belleville can continue to grow, prosper, and remain a community that everyone is proud to call home.
