The Belleville Police Department in Essex County, New Jersey is accepting applications for the position of PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATOR (01296@)/Police Dispatcher.

Qualified applicants must be certified as a 9-1-1 operator and in Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) and have at least one year of relevant experience.

Appointees must have achieved training and certification by the Office of Emergency Telecommunications Services (OETS) in the Department of Law and Public Safety as required by NJAC 17:24-2.2. One (1) year of experience in work involving the receiving, transmitting, and relaying of video display and/or radio messages, and in the receiving, relaying, and recording of complaints and requests for emergency assistance, which shall have included the use of video display, data processing, automatic number identification, automatic location identification, switching equipment, or other computer oriented-equipment.

This is a part-time position of twenty (20) to twenty-five (25) hours per week with an hourly rate of $25.00 to $28.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.  Shift times will rotate and shall include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.  Medical benefits are not offered.
