Full-Time Police Officers

Responsibilities
- Enforcing laws and regulations to protect people and property.
- Responding to calls for police service. Including emergencies and non-emergencies
- General Patrol
- Conducting investigations (Criminal and Traffic)
- Effecting lawful arrests
- Traffic control and Enforcement of Traffic laws
- Preparing and writing Official reports
- Providing first aid
- Communicating with the community and striving to promote friendliness, helpfulness, and understanding.
- Maintaining professional knowledge: Police officers study laws and ordinances and attend continued training.
Requirements:
- Must be a U. S Citizen
- Must be a Belleville resident and able to show proof of residency.
- Possess a Valid New Jersey Driver’s License
- Age: 18-34 years old
- High School Graduate or possess an approved High School equivalent certificate
- Drug testing is required
- Must be able to speak and read the English language.
- NO lateral Transfers and NO prior Police Training Certification (PTC) will be accepted
- Must be Physically able to complete a training course approved by the New Jersey Police Training Commission.
- Pass a criminal background investigation and medical examination

No Civil Service Test Required and employment is contingent upon completion of a Police training course approved by the New Jersey Police Training Commission
