The Belleville Junior Police Academy will run its Summer Course from June 26 through July 2, 2026. This is open to boys and girls currently in 6th and 7th grades that are residents of the Township of Belleville
The Objectives of the Junior Academy program are:
- Provide the attending recruit with an overview of the criminal justice field and its components.
- Have special guests and specialized Police Units share their expertise and knowledge through interactive demonstrations.
- Conduct off-site field trips to outside agencies, and tour the Essex County Police Academy in Cedar Grove, NJ.
- Develop the concept of teamwork, self-confidence, and enhanced communication skills in the recruit.
- Conduct both classroom and hands-on training in various fields including crime scene analysis, and physical training.
The program will take place from 8:30AM – 3:00PM, beginning Friday, June 26th, and concluding on Thursday, July 2nd, 2026. All participants should arrive at the Belleville Indoor Training Facility located at 522 Cortlandt Street for a prompt 8:30AM start, with a brown bag lunch and water bottle; please label both.

A formal graduation ceremony will be held on Thursday, July 2nd at 2:00PM at the Belleville High School Gymnasium. Attendance is limited to four (4) family members per recruit.
