The Township of Belleville Office of Emergency Management focuses on the protection of its residents in unforeseen events. The main role of this department is coordinating response and plans for any emergency in accordance with local, county, and state officials.
About
The Office of Emergency Management is responsible for maintaining and enforcing the New Jersey State Disaster Laws. State law requires every municipality to have a state approved Emergency Operations Plan (EOP). In addition it is the Mayor's responsiblity to appoint a Coordinator. The Emergency Management Coordinator must be a resident of the municpality. The Local Emergency Management Coordinator and Deputy Coordinators, along with members of public safety organizations, volunteer, and private entities, such as the Red Cross, know their responsibilities and how they are expected to conduct their job. The Office of Emergency Management is charged with coordinating the efforts of these agencies and organizations during a disaster or natural emergency.
