| FAQ |
| When does the fire department plan to hire? | Hiring is done as needed and when approved by the township. All hiring is done following the NJ CSC process. Anyone desiring to be considered for employment as a firefighter/EMT with The Belleville Fire Department should monitor the NJ CSC website, follow the CSC directions, and apply once the application period opens. We are told to expect the application period to open around July 2026 for the firefighter entrance exam. |
| I am not a trained firefighter or EMT, can I still be hired? | Step one is to apply for the CSC test and do well. Step two is to secure your CPR and NJ EMT-B or NREMT with/NJ Reciprocity before appointment. All candidates hired off the 2026 CSC entrance exam will be sent to a NJ Fire Academy to be trained as a Probationary Firefighter - and will be required to pass all components, and graduate from the Academy as a condition of continued employment. |
| How can I do well on the CSC test? | Check the CSC website for details - The NJ CSC controls all aspects of their entrance exam process. |
